For Community & Country

The Norwell Democratic Town Committee promotes the Democratic Party's vision for good government in service to Norwell, the Commonwealth, and our country. We are neighbors, advocates, and activists committed to people-first, progressive values. We elect Democratic candidates at every level. The Norwell Democratic Town Committee aspires to be a model for local and statewide Party action.

Service

The Norwell Democratic Town Committee is a community-first organization. We recognize the special character of our town and are proud of our state's values. We hold elected and volunteer positions, because we believe that service is the duty of citizenship. We gather, because we are invigorated by politics. We endorse and elect Democrats, because we believe that the Party, while imperfect, is an agent for social good.

TOWN COMMITTEE VACANCIES. There are numerous open at-large seats on issues ranging from Aging to Water. Here is the list of vacancies. Find a topic of interest, or one that matches your professional skills, and volunteer!

Advocacy

Norwell Democrats defend the Democratic Party's vision for good government, democratic principles, the social welfare, and economic prosperity. In the coming year, the Town Committee will be active on several policy issues:

* Fight for a livable wage for Norwellians, Bay Staters, and Americans

* Protect health care, electoral integrity, Social Security, and other core aspects of the social contract

* Pursue the strictest gun safety laws in the country

* Advance the rights of women, immigrants, minorities, and the LGBTQ community

* Advocate for quality, affordable housing for all

* Sustain a healthy environment and promote green energy

* Hold elected officials at all levels accountable, even as we provide people-power to develop good public policy

Action

The Committee invites anyone still inspired by the possibilities of politics to become involved. This is an urgent time in American civic life, and Norwell Democrats stand strong against division and disenfranchisement. There is much to do to protect economic, social, and racial justice -- the legacy and future of the Democratic Party. Join us.

If you assume that there is no hope, you guarantee that there will be no hope. If you assume that there is an instinct for freedom, that there are opportunities to change things, then there is a possibility that you can contribute to making a better world. —Noam Chomsky
